Anthrax is an American heavy metal band formed in Queens, New York City, in 1981 by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker, and is considered one of the leaders of the 1980s thrash metal scene as part of the genre's "Big Four" alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. After debuting with Fistful of Metal (1984), the band stabilized around vocalist Joey Belladonna and released Among the Living (1987), widely regarded as one of the greatest thrash metal albums and the band's commercial breakthrough. Scott Ian remains the only member to have appeared on every Anthrax album.
