Bauhaus were an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978, consisting of Peter Murphy (vocals), Daniel Ash (guitar), David J (bass), and Kevin Haskins (drums). Pioneers of gothic rock, their 1979 debut single "Bela Lugosi's Dead" and 1980 debut album In the Flat Field are considered foundational to the genre. The band achieved mainstream UK success with 1982's The Sky's Gone Out before splitting in July 1983, a week before the release of their final album Burning from the Inside.
