English pop band formed in London in 1981, led by singer Boy George (George O'Dowd) with bassist Mikey Craig, guitarist/keyboardist Roy Hay and drummer Jon Moss. Emerging from the New Romantic scene, they blended new wave, soul and reggae influences into massive international hits including "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," "Karma Chameleon" and "Time (Clock of the Heart)." Their second album Colour by Numbers (1983) sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. Internal tensions and Boy George's heroin addiction led to the band's split in 1986, following fourth album From Luxury to Heartache.
