Scorpions are a German hard rock and heavy metal band formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. The band's longest-running and most commercially successful lineup — Schenker, Klaus Meine (vocals), Matthias Jabs (lead guitar), Francis Buchholz (bass), and Herman Rarebell (drums) — coalesced in 1978 and carried the group through its defining 1980s run, including Animal Magnetism (1980), Blackout (1982), Love at First Sting (1984), and Savage Amusement (1988). Blackout, driven by the hit 'No One Like You,' became their first US Top 10 album, and the band went on to sell more than 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling rock act from Continental Europe.
