1 album / credit record(s) · Funk/Minneapolis Sound
American funk band formed in Minneapolis in 1981 as a Prince side project, fronted by Morris Day and featuring future hitmaking producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Their self-titled debut was largely written and performed by Prince himself (credited as 'Jamie Starr'), and the band became a cornerstone act of the emerging 'Minneapolis sound' that fused funk, R&B, rock and synth-pop through the 1980s.
