Bowie's 14th studio album and his first after the Berlin Trilogy, recorded at the Power Station in New York and Good Earth Studios in London with returning producer Tony Visconti and the last outing for the long-serving Alomar/Murray/Davis rhythm section; it gave Bowie his first UK #1 album since 1974's Diamond Dogs and paired the era-defining 'Ashes to Ashes' (with its groundbreaking Blitz-kid music video) with guest guitar spots from Robert Fripp and Pete Townshend.
