1 album / credit record(s) · Electro/Proto-Techno

Detroit electro/techno duo formed by Juan Atkins and Vietnam veteran Rik Davis (Richard "3070" Davis), who met in a music theory class at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor. Combining Kraftwerk-influenced machine funk with futurist themes drawn from Alvin Toffler's writing, they self-released the singles "Alleys of Your Mind" (1981) and "Cosmic Cars" (1982) before their debut album Enter (1983) on Fantasy Records, whose track "Clear" became a widely sampled electro classic and the album is now regarded as a foundational document of Detroit techno. Atkins left after Enter over artistic differences to launch Model 500; Davis continued the Cybotron name into the 1990s.
