Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, in 1967, originally featuring Peter Gabriel on vocals and pioneering progressive rock through the 1970s. After Gabriel's departure in 1975, drummer Phil Collins became lead vocalist, and by the 1980s the trio of Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford steered the band toward a more pop-oriented, commercially dominant sound with albums including Duke (1980), Abacab (1981), and Invisible Touch (1986). Genesis have sold 100-150 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
