Toto is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977 by session musicians David Paich (keyboards) and Jeff Porcaro (drums), who recruited David Hungate (bass), Steve Lukather (guitar), Steve Porcaro (keyboards) and vocalist Bobby Kimball before releasing their self-titled 1978 debut on Columbia Records. Their fourth album, Toto IV (1982), brought them global success, with 'Africa' hitting number one and 'Rosanna' reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and the album winning five Grammy Awards including Album of the Year. Combining pop, rock, soul, funk, jazz and prog influences, Toto has sold over 50 million records worldwide and was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.
